Kuan Yin is also known as the Goddess or Bhodisattva of Compassion. Her name, Kuan Shih Yin, means Regarder of the Cries of the World. She compassionately refrains from entering nirvana in order to save other sentient beings from suffering. In all the many stories about Kuan Yin, a common theme is that if you call her, she will come to you.

She is usually seen holding a vase of healing pure water and the branch of a willow tree. And here she wears the Pearl of Light she received as a gift from the Dragon King.
